Participating Universities

Students can apply for this bursary if they are enrolled or plan to enroll at one of the following Western Cape universities:

  • University of Cape Town (UCT)
  • University of the Western Cape (UWC)
  • Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
  • Stellenbosch University

Eligible Fields of Study

This bursary is for students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or closely related subjects. Examples of qualifying fields include:

  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering

Program Details

The bursary will cover the entire duration of a student’s Bachelor’s Degree program. This opportunity is specifically for students who live in and study within the Western Cape province.

Minimum Application Requirements

To be considered for the Metacom Foundation Bursary, applicants must meet these criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be between 18 and 27 years old.
  • Be female.
  • Come from a previously disadvantaged background.
  • Reside in the Western Cape.
  • Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
  • Be studying or intend to study for a Bachelor’s Degree in ICT or a related field.
  • Be studying or plan to study at UCT, UWC, CPUT, or Stellenbosch University.
  • Have a strong academic record.
  • Demonstrate a clear financial need.
  • Show academic potential and a strong desire to succeed.

Required Documents for Application

Applicants need to prepare the following documents for their application:

  • A completed Metacom Foundation bursary application form.
  • A certified copy of your South African ID.
  • A certified copy of your final Matric results.
  • Your most recent university transcript, if you are already a university student.
  • Proof of your parent or guardian’s household income.
  • Latest payslips for parents or guardians, if they are employed.
  • An affidavit if a parent or guardian is unemployed.
  • Proof of pension or social grant, if applicable.
  • A reference letter is optional but can help your application.
